A world of wonder awaits in Amsterdam’s magical theme parks. Whether you’re traveling with your family or are a child at heart, a theme park tour is a great way to experience a thrill that is uniquely Dutch. One of the most famous parks, Efteling, opened in 1952 and remains the Netherland’s biggest amusement park and one of the oldest parks still operating in the world. Its fantasy themes draw from old fairy tales, such as the Brothers Grimm, and its quirky aesthetic was developed by Dutch illustrator Anton Pieck. Located about an hour’s drive outside of Amsterdam, the park has drawn crowds from around the world and even hosted a performance by the iconic Kate Bush in the ‘70s. Rumor has it Walt Disney himself visited the park for inspiration before opening his California theme park. Aside from Efteling, there are a variety of amusement parks suitable for different ages.
